NRP Sagres Visit

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Portuguese Navy ship N.R.P. Sagres has decided to reschedule its circumnavigation of the globe for a future date.

Its original 2020 journey was envisioned to mark the 500th anniversary of Ferdinand Magellan's voyage around the world, and would also provide an opportunity for its first and second-year Naval Academy cadets to do training and conduct port calls and economic diplomacy activities.

We hope that Hawaiʻi will remain on the list for a future visit from the NRP Sagres, with stops not only in Honolulu but in the other islands where Portuguese descendants made their homes.
